Description
Our Story Our Story In 1863, John A. Frye opened the doors to his very first store, paving the way for countless generations of Frye artisans dedicated entirely to the art of craftsmanship. The result is beautifully made footwear, bags and accessories with a long and illustrious history. Today that legacy continues with the introduction this fall of Frye’s first-ever apparel collection for men and women. Rooted in tradition, Frye was originally inspired by our everyday American heroes over the decades. Cavalry infantrymen. World War II soldiers. Fighter pilots. Factory workers. Frye traveled the world on the feet of our servicemen — even General Patton. News of Frye’s outstanding quality and reputation spread. Frye has since become an American icon, outfitting many of the many big names from John Lennon to Jackie O. Chosen for its inimitable style and uncompromising quality, Frye is a longtime favorite of rock stars and celebrities alike. Frye’s iconic boots have defined eras, embodied social movements, outlasted trends and defied time. Frye captures the essence of timeless American style – the promise of a dream. That promise is held deep within the DNA of our very own genetic codes. Embedded within our legendary and historic styles remains a wellspring of the promise of adventure, courage and individual freedom. Against the backdrop of the great American landscape, Frye’s place in history is assured. There are many lookalikes but only one Frye. The Original. The Authentic. The Only.

I ordered Vintage Brown but was shipped Dark Brown instead. I decided to keep it, as I think with a little wear the boots will break in and weather nicely. Keep this in mind, though, if Vintage Brown is what you want. The boots are nice, fully lined with sheepskin and well constructed. They are narrow, but comfortable for me. Heeding the other reviews, I ordered a half size smaller than usual and they are still a bit long. There is no arch support built into this boot, the insole is flat. I inserted an orthotic insole but there's just barely room for it.I don't like the painted-on dark highlighting that covers the toes and heel area, but I hope with some weathering, it won't be as noticeable.Overall this is a well made and comfortable boot, perfect for jeans and khakis.Update: I wore the boots for 14 hours the first day with no discomfort. The leather is stiff but comfortable. It will break in nicely. The dark brown finish has a burgundy - oxblood base color visible in full sun. I am considering sanding off the edge dressing on the sole to help weather it. I'm beginning to really dislike the fake burnishing applied to the heel and toe. It makes a fine, well made pair of boots look like a $79 special.Update: I bought another pair in black. The black pair has a higher dome toe and thicker all-rubber sole and heel so it looks more like a work boot. I thought it might be helpful to post pictures so you can see what they look like in a non professional photograph.I ended up sending these back. I Own the James Lace Ups and was thinking of replacing them with the Tylers. The leather is soft and comfortable right out of the box. I found the leather laces difficult to unlace and lace (especially compared to the James). I don't have huge feet and these boots look small on my feet (especially compared to the James). That wouldn't be an issue if you have large feet. I wasn't in love with the color either once I had them on (but that's personal preference and not really relevant). Also the soles are ugly. It would have looked much better with a leather sole or at least a solid piece rubber sole. The front sole has a rubber grip attached to it and it looks tacky. I didn't wear them other than to try them on, but they seem well made. I didn't have a problem with the width like I did with the James. Overall I think the James are more attractive and "manly" looking boot. If you're considering the Tylers then I'd take a look at the James. They cheaper too.Seems to be a quality boot. They are light weight and comfortable. The heels are a little tight so if you have a foot that is other than a medium width, this is not for you. The disappointing part thing is when I look into the boots they say Made in Mexico. I thought I was paying more for the USA label. You know, support the team. So maybe the leather is made in Mexico or the entire boot is. That, to me, is the most disappointing part. I am happy to pay more for US goods.I probably will keep 'em, but it's disappointing.First off, these boots are made very narrow. Also, they are annoying to put on because the leather laces do not allow the boot to expand whenever you're trying to put your foot in the boot. I have to unlace the very top and allow nearly the whole lace to pull through to expand the tongue and slip on the boot. After getting your foot in them, however, the boots are extremely comfortable with absolutely no break-in period. The narrow fit keeps your feet from sliding around and the construction is very sturdy. Highly recommended only if you have a narrow/normal width foot.I like this shoes because they are made from genuine leather, the lining on the inside is real quality as well as the outside, I also like the hand made finish up to the minimum detail. Mi only complain is that those shoes are not made wider and take longer time to stretch them and make you feel comfortable walking with. At this point I feel ok walking in these shoes after wearing them several times. I am satisfied with the purchase. I recommend them.I had been wanting these particular boots for some time because they are so cool looking. Well when they went on sale I just had to get them. I've only worn them once, but I have some compliments from the ladies so yeah! The only thing I don't like about them is they are hard to get on and off. I think the laces have to be really loose to get your foot in so it take some time. Other than that I like them a lot.I usually wear a 9, but for me the Frye Tyler Lace-Up Boots fit best half a size smaller (in which case no thick socks needed and no extra movement inside the boot). Overall a simple genuine style boot (I purchased the Olive Suede) and very comfortable from the start (they break in nicely). A perfect everyday pair of boots and well worth the money.Spend the extra money for these shoes, your feet, no, your whole body will thank you. I have a standing desk at work and cheaper shoes gave me massive foot and lower leg pain. People have complemented my shoes and they are versatile for work or casual wear. I've never regretted the money spent on these.1 Year update: These shoes finally gave way, although the part that broke will surprise you. The inside leather wore away from where it rubbed with the hard (plastic?) heel support on the backside of the shoes. By this point, the rubber soles had hardly any tread left and the leather laces had worn out, although still usable. I contacted Frye and they couldn't fix or replace, but offered me a credit since I was in their 1 year warranty.Right out of the box these boots feel comfortable and soft. No break-in period needed. I usually wear 9, 9.5 or 10 depending on how footwear fit and I have average width feet. These boots are perfect width, not too narrow. The length is a little generous but it doesn't affect wear. Was excited for my 5th pair of fryes. When they arrived first thing i niticed was that they were a stone wash black not a straight black like i had expected. When i tried them on they hardly fit. Way more narrow then any of my others. No way i would last 30 mins in them. Back they went to amazon. Positive being the easy return process of amazon. Thanks for that.Tight very tight shoes . Go 1/2 size largerTop quality leather. Best shoes and priciest I’ve ever bought. Feels good. Will take some time getting used to.Great product ..fast service. Boots fit narrow as do many Frye shoes. Having them stretched now.
